I had seen a picture of this cake on Pinterest about a month ago and when one of my colleagues said she was getting married, I decided to bake this cake for her wedding party. She told me she liked vanilla- and lemon-flavored cakes and that she liked white and yellow colors. That was a perfect fit for this cake which I already planned to bake. I baked it on Tuesday evening; covered it with buttercream icing on Wednesday evening; made the fondant sunflowers on Wednesday evening as well and let them dry overnight in flower moulds. On Thursday morning, I covered the cake with fondant, put the flowers on the base, put the yellow drape and then attached the remaining sunflowers on the yellow drape. Finally, I put the topper - Just Married - on top of the cake. It was really an exciting experience for me. I used a spaghetti maker which helped me thin the rolled fondant for the sunflowers and drape! Letting the buttercream icing stay on for almost two days before covering it fondant really helped to have a well shaped cake. The bride was so elated and every one at the party really liked the cake. To God be all the glory!!
